IT WAS THE BREEDERS FROM THESE AREAS WHO LAYED THE FOUNDATIONS FOR THE FIRST PLANNED SELECTION WORK AND THE FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF THE BREED, WHICH IS WHY THEIR ROLE IN THE HERITAGE OF SLOVENIAN SHEEPBREEDING IS INVALUABLE.
THE 208-PAGE BOOK PROVIDES A RICH INTERTWO OF HISTORICAL SOURCES ABOUT THE JEZERSKO-SOLČAVSKI SHEEP, PRESENTS THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE BREED AND THE BREEDERS’ TODAY’S VIEW OF “OUR SHEEP”. A SPECIAL CHAPTER IS DEDICATED TO THE MEAT OF THE TROBNICA AS A HIGHLY VALUED FOOD AND TO THE WOOL, ITS PROPERTIES AND WIDE OPTIONS OF USE. AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE BOOK ILLUMINATES THE TRADITION OF FELTING IN THE SOLČAVSKI REGION, WHILE OPENING UP A VIEW OF FINLAND – THE LAND OF FELT AND DESIGN, WHERE THIS CRAFTS PLAYS AN IMPORTANT CULTURAL AND ECONOMIC ROLE.
